According to its website, the Food Stamp Challenge “is one of the best ways to learn about the nutrition hurdles that low-income Americans face every day. The challenge usually entails eating on a budget of roughly $1 to $1.25 per meal (per person), an amount that approximates the average allocation of food stamp benefits.”
I think what Gwyneth Paltrow has done is just one way to raise awareness of poverty. Her and others like her should consider this issue on a daily basis, as this is real life for some 46,029,343 people. That is a LOT of people in need of such a program!
For a month, my family did the $5.83 Challenge and most of them lost weight however, I would like to see us do a Challenge were the $5.83 included paper goods.
Notwithstanding, it is my hope and prayer that Congress will take notice of hunger in America and not cut SNAP’s budget but increase it.
